Beijing Normal University held the seminar on artificial intelligence and education development and the first meeting of technical committee of national engineering laboratory for cyberlearning intelligent technology on 26th, Dec. Wu Hequan, an academician at the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Hao Fanghua and Chen Li, the vice president of BUN attended the meetings. Experts from National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Education; National Natural Science Foundation of China, Tsinghua University, China Mobile Communications Corporation, Elernity and iFLYTEK CO.LTD were also present.
Hao Fanghua addressed the conference and issued letters of appointment to director of technical committee, director and associate directors of national engineering laboratory for cyberlearning intelligent technology. She pointed that national engineering laboratory for cyberlearning intelligent technology, as the first national engineering laboratory on “internet plus education” of China and BUN, should devote to the “Double-First Class” initiative construction of BUN.
Chen Li also pointed that our laboratory should follow the development tendency of artificial intelligence and integrate efforts of mass experts to stimulate our space of development on the basis of national major strategies and frontier technology; and we should also undertake major projects, make great achievements and build multi-stakeholder cooperation.
Experts from Innovation Capacity Office, Department of high-tech industry, NDRC and High-tech Office ,the Department of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Education proposed requests for the development of laboratory.
Wu Hequan made a report named Magical AI Triggers Education’s Innovation, which explained the development and the tendency of artificial intelligence, mobile internet, cloud computing and big data and pointed out the new chance facing the education’ reform and innovation brought by information and technology Zhen Yonghe, director of the Policy Bureau of NSFC, made a report named Scientific Fund Stimulates The Integrated Development of Artificial Intelligence, Big Data , Science and Education.
Huang Ronghuai, director of laboratory, reported the construction progress and planning of laboratory. And the work of 2018 will focus on the construction of working mechanism, capacity building, industrial connecting, scientific research, talent training and public service.
In the meeting, “the Demonstrated Project of Big Data Development and Application of Basic Education” of NSFC undertaken by laboratory announced periodical achievement, “the Big Data Application Platform For Basic Education”. And laboratory has signed cooperative agreements on the demonstration application of big data in next five years with representatives from Luo Yang, Jin Hua, Shuang Liu, Cheng du and Qing Zheng, Guy Yang. and Huang put forward ten major research findings in 2017 Research Report on Internet Education Service Industry.
And experts of technical committee of laboratory offered advice on laboratory’s development. The representatives from Laboratory co-construction units also attended the meeting and made speeches.
